Lyndsey Keeling - Mesh works - Aluminium Fly - Screen

For me the mesh works are drawings by sight and touch.
There’s no use of pencil or pen, only a wooden spoon (my tool of choice) to pull, stretch and stroke the metal sheets; transforming the thin gauge metal from the front and behind into a series of interacting shadows, aided and assisted by a matt white backdrop.
The hardest decision is to know when to put the spoon down. I still fail. But when it's right, it’s very satisfying. The involvement of one shadow line with another starts to sharpen the focus until the form becomes apparent. Time and light move on throughout the day and night, acting with the mesh and canvas surface to reflect little imagined body movements.

These works look very unusual in both commercial and domestic settings.
There will be one or two more smaller works completed in time for the Open Studios.
